Ok, I’m stumped!


“Hmmm” I said to myself upon finding this item in the supermarket one nite last week. It looks like a fresh shoulder, and I love fresh shoulder, let’s see what happens. So I took it home and gave it a good home and put it in a nice warm cast iron skillet in the oven and I thought it rewarded me with a nice fresh shoulder looking roast….


But let me tell you ladies and gentlemen, this was like “The Bad Seed” of the roast meat world.

First, we couldn’t figure out how to carve it…

Second, there is no real meat on it except the little you can see in the picture. Which of course we didn’t know until we tried to carve it…

Third, unbeknownst to me, it was just a tad oversized for the cast iron pan, and so it dripped juice on the oven floor which, being the naughty child, did not tell me there was a problem until I turned the oven onto 400 ° a couple of days later…

Fourth…we couldn’t figure out how to eat it because it’s not ribs of meat, it’s not able to be sliced, it’s not shreddable. I gave up, packed it in tupperware and sent it to the back of the frig.

I’m sending it where all naughty roast meats go…to the pressure cooker. Watch this space for more news…
